Two!!!

My son is two. I can't believe how quickly that happened. It seems like only weeks since I wrote a blog to comemorate his first birthday. In fact, the profile picture I had up was from that birthday.

For those who don't know, this momentous occasion occurred on January 21st, but, as I'm sure you've guessed, we have been busy around here. He had a Thomas the Train themed party at The Little Gym, and there were a few friends (okay, 12, plus adults) there. I find it so amazing how easily Billy bonds/plays/gets comfortable with other kids - and so quickly. As I watched the other kids play, I realized that most kids his age (and even some older) take time to warm up to playing. Billy jumps in head first. Not that I'm surprised...I've always been a "social butterfly" (my dad's term, I believe, coined during my days as a 16-18 year old), and any of you who know Eric know he lives for entertaining a crowd.

I do wish the head first thing was a figure of speech, but my little boy is quite the daredevil. I have come to believe that God created little boys so that us mommies could develop nerves of steel...probably so that on that day when they find a woman that they love more than *gasp* us, we can handle it a little better :) ! I don't know if I should blame my husband (for all the panic he caused his mom), my brother (for somehow passing on HIS daredevil genes), or his weekly gymnastics class (where he loves tumbling and throwing himself into the pit). All I know is, Jeffery's (my brother) only visit to the emergency room when we were younger was because I hit him with a metal baseball bat (long story short, he was too close to where the end of my swing was headed), so he came out of most of his hijinks unscathed. I just hope Billy takes after Jeffery in that area....because as a mom, Eric's horse story (no short story) scares me to death - heck, it scared me to before I was a mom!

Anyway...I have enjoyed every second of Billy's two plus years, and I can't wait to see what year three holds!!!
